The Royal Air Force Music Charitable Trust was established in December 2003 by Malcolm Goodman MBE who was then serving as a Royal Air Force musician and Public Relations and Marketing Manager for the RAF Music Services. Under its President, Air Chief Marshal Sir Michael Graydon GCB CBE, the charitable trust was subsequently registered as a service charity with the Charity Commission in January 2004.

The charity is administered by its Board of Trustees to promote welfare funding through the performance of live music by Royal Air Force musicians, and provides welfare donations to other service charities, whilst offering its support towards the development of other charity fundraising concerts both in the UK and overseas.

The charity also provides welfare support for Royal Air Force musicians when undertaking operational deployments in support of HM Forces around the world.

2016 marks the 25th anniversary of Royal Air Force musicians being deployed on active service during the first Gulf War, highlighting that although the public image of the RAF bands might be that of the concert stage and State Ceremonial events, military musicians do also undertake operational duties on a regular basis. In support of our charity's objects, the 2016 'Music for Heroes' concerts will hopefully raise further funds to support all our servicemen and servicewomen ‘heroes’ from all three services. For further details please see the concert information below (please note that ticketing arrangements vary for each concert venue) or email office@rafmusic.org.uk
